Automatic watches run without a battery and are automatically wound by the wearer's arm movement after the first winding. When our automatic watches are fully wound, they run for an average of about 48 hours, even when stationary. If the watch is not worn for a longer period, it must first be wound again (30 - 50 turns of the crown clockwise). LOUIS XVI watches are tested for water resistance up to 5 bar, which corresponds to the pressure of an assumed water column of 50 meters. This makes them suitable for daily use, such as bathing, showering, or hand washing.

The water resistance of a watch can diminish over time, for example, due to the aging of seals or accidental impacts against one of the components responsible for water resistance, such as the crown, the pushers, or the watch glass. We recommend having the water resistance of your watch checked once a year.

All watches from LOUIS XVI are made of stainless steel 316L, which is also used in the manufacture of surgical instruments, which are extremely durable and never rust.

This extremely high-quality stainless steel 316L also contains a small amount of nickel. However, the stainless steel alloy 316L limits the release of nickel. The nickel particles are enclosed in the alloy and therefore remain firmly bound to the other components.

The fact that nickel is not released makes stainless steel 316L an anti-allergenic metal that does not irritate the skin. Thus, watches made of stainless steel 316L can be worn even by people with a nickel allergy.

Yes, an exchange is generally possible. The prerequisite is that the watch is unworn and absolutely like new, the strap has not been shortened, no protective films have been removed, and the 14-day return period has not been exceeded.
